Aston University is a teaching and research higher education institution incorporated by Royal Charter. Its engineering degrees are accredited by UK Engineering Council professional institutions, its science degrees accredited by UK Science Council membership bodies and its business degrees accredited by AMBA, AACSB and EQUIS. All degrees awarded by Aston University are quality assured by the QAA, which is the safeguarding standards organisation for UK higher education.
Aston Professional Engineering Centre (APEC) hosts the following degree streams associated with the nuclear sector:
- Foundation Degree (FD) in Nuclear Engineering delivered over 2 years on a block-release basis,
- Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) in Nuclear Engineering delivered over 2 years on a blended-learning basis,
- Postgraduate Certificate (PgC) in Nuclear Engineering Leadership delivered on a block-release or blended-learning basis,
- Master of Science (MSc) Professional Engineering for the nuclear sector on a work-based integrated-learning basis.
The FD and BEng pathways represent an integrated Degree Apprenticeship in Nuclear Engineering (Nuclear-DA).
The PgC and MSc pathways represent recognised routes to CEng candidature associated with Nuclear Engineering (MSc-ProfEng).
In addition to the above, the School of Engineering and Applied Science incorporates a number of academic institutes addressing the research needs of industry and commerce (EAS). Likewise, Aston Business School is heavily engaged in supporting industry and commerce at all levels.
