Level 2 Qualification
The Award has been primarily designed to meet the needs of apprentices and all other personnel new to the nuclear sector, who need to gain a foundation level of understanding of the nuclear industry into which they will be starting their employment. The Award will also benefit those in the industry who want to have a broader awareness and wish to gain recognition of their knowledge of the nuclear sector.
Course Overview
The Award for Nuclear Industry Awareness (ANIA) is an online, level 2 qualification that is an estimated at around 70 guided learner hours. Assessment is via a written examination taken at an approved examination centre.
The ANIA course comprises of three units:
Unit One: History and development of the nuclear industry
The aim of this unit is to provide an awareness of the history and development of the nuclear industry, security within nuclear sites, the UK nuclear stakeholders and behavioural expectations of employers.
Unit Two: Fundamentals of nuclear science
The aim of this unit is to provide a foundation in the scientific concepts and principles associated with atomic structure, radioactivity, ionising radiation, the detection of ionising radiation and its hazards.
Unit Three: Application of nuclear energy and waste management
The aim of this unit is to provide an understanding of the application of nuclear energy. It also covers the management of the waste generated and emergency procedures.
Delivery
The course is completed on our eLearning Platform. You have the choice of purchasing just the ANIA course, or you can purchase and register for the exam if you wish to undertake the full qualification.

Assessment
